Tres has been surrounded by music his entire life. His mother was a jazz singer and his father played bass for the famous Buddy Rich Big Band in the late 60's. While growing up, Tres was encouraged to play music and started playing the trombone at the age of seven. Tres continued with this instrument through high school playing in concert and jazz bandand participating in marching band. It was in his college years that Tres decided to switch to double-bass. He earned a degree in music with an emphasis on the double-bass: favoring jazz and blues while moonlighting for five years with in the classical world as part of the bass section of the Humboldt Symphony. Tres enjoys playing all styles of music and feels that being a well rounded musician is the key to further development and musical bliss.
